3-A playoffs

KEARNS, Utah-Morgan Albrecht posted 2 RBI and the Richfield Wildcats overpowered Juab 8-1 Friday at Kearns High School in the 3-A baseball state tournament.

Because of prevalent rain in northern Utah, the game prior to this, Union against Carbon, was delayed by 30 minutes, thus causing this game to be delayed.

Nevertheless, the Wildcats rose to the occasion as Nate Winters and Payson Reed also came through with key RBI to help Richfield keep its season alive.

With the win, Richfield stays alive and will face the Carbon Dinos Friday evening around 9:30 pm in hopes of advancing to the 12:30 pm state championship game on Saturday.

KEARNS, Utah-Brody Barney and Jacob Paxton each had 2 RBI and the Grantsville Cowboys routed Manti 9-3 Friday evening at Kearns High School in the 3-A baseball state tournament. The Cowboys, by virtue of this victory, have advanced to the 3-A state championship game at 12:30 pm Saturday, also at Kearns High School. Matt Nelson and Dallin Rasmussen each had RBI in the loss for the Templars. Manti will play either Richfield or Carbon Saturday morning at 10:00 am.

KEARNS, Utah-Cody Lowe had a 3-run homer and Nate Olsen added a 2-RBI triple as the Carbon Dinos pounded Richfield 18-4, ending the Wildcats’ season Friday night. Braxton Bennett added another RBI for the Dinos in the victory. The Dinos earned 16 of their runs and amassed 16 hits. Carbon’s season continues as they face Manti Saturday at 10:00 am for the right to play for the 3-A state championship.

2-A Playoffs

MURRAY, Utah-Carter Jackman came through with the game-winning RBI as the Kanab Cowboys eliminated Enterprise with a 4-3 win Friday at Ken Price Ball Field in the 2-A one-loss semifinal bracket. The Wolves came into this one on fire, having eliminated traditional power Gunnison 13-8 Thursday night, as well as Beaver with an 18-8 victory earlier Friday. With the win, Kanab gets another crack at North Sevier, whom they lost to 5-4 Friday afternoon, in the state title game Saturday at 11:00 am.

SANDY, Utah-Dominic Arias amassed a hat trick and the Judge Memorial Bulldogs routed Delta 8-2 Friday in the 3-A boys state soccer semifinals Friday at Alta High School. Jager Springer and Sam Clark found the net in the loss for the Rabbits.
