3-A State Tournament

Boys Basketball

RICHFIELD, Utah-Tyson Hurd amassed 15 points on 6-11 shooting as the Morgan Trojans used a 20-11 run in the 3rd Quarter to overpower South Sevier 48-37 Thursday in the 3-A boys state quartefinals at the Sevier Valley Center. Tyson Chisholm led the Rams in defeat with 15 points and 8 rebounds on 8-10 at the foul line in the loss. South Sevier plays Providence Hall at 12:50 pm Friday in the consolation bracket and Morgan meets Manti Friday at 7:30 pm in the first of two boys semifinals.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Emmett Hinck posted 15 points on 3-5 shooting and 5-7 at the foul line off the bench as the Richfield Wildcats routed Judge 58-43 Thursday during the 3-A boys state quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center. Keldon Anderson added 13 points and 9 rebounds for the Wildcats. Mac Tarver netted 21 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for the Bulldogs. Richfield next faces Emery Friday at 9:10 pm in the 3-A state semifinals at the Sevier Valley Center.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Grady Thompson posted 25 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists on 8-10 shooting as the Manti Templars hammered Providence Hall 74-56, earning their 20th win of the season Thurday during the 3-A boys state quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center. Marcus Sherwood posted 24 points on 10-18 shooting for the Patriots in the loss. Manti next advances to the 7:30 pm Friday semifinal.

Girls Basketball

3-A State Quarterfinals @ SVC

RICHFIELD, Utah-Madison Fields posted 23 points and 10 rebounds on 10-12 shooting as the Grantsvilile Cowgirls outlasted South Sevier 63-58 in the 3-A state girls quarterfinals Thursday at the Sevier Valley Center. Mackenzie Jones posted 19 points in the loss for the Rams. South Sevier is in action at 11:10 am Friday in the consolation bracket against Carbon.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Alexa Lord netted 23 points and the Richfield Wildcats routed the Carbon Dinos 51-27 Thursday in the 3-A state girls quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center. Abbie Saccomanno had 7 points in defeat for the Dinos, as the Wildcats limited them to 23.7 percent shooting on the night. Richfield next faces Grantsville in the Friday afternoon semifinals at 4:10 pm.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Bayli Heap amassed 15 points and 10 rebounds and the Juab Wasps got past Judge 48-44 Thursday in the 3-A state girls quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center. Teya Sidberry amassed 32 points and 14 rebounds in defeat for the Bulldogs. Juab next plays in the 5:50 pm semifinals Friday against the vaunted Emery Spartans, the top-ranked team in 3-A, currently sporting a 23-0 record.

2-A Boys Quarterfinals @ Weber State

OGDEN, Utah-Sam Orton amassed 26 points and 8 rebounds as the Kanab Cowboys edged North Summit 51-48 Thursday in the 2-A state boys quarterfinals at the Dee Events Center. Parker Brown had 22 points in the loss for the Braves. Kanab next faces Parowan Friday at 9:10 pm in the state semifinals.

OGDEN, Utah-Isaiah Adams netted 16 points and 11 rebounds and Rowland Hall outlasted Beaver 40-37 in the 2-A state boys quarterfinals at the Dee Events Center Thursday. Ky Brown posted 14 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for the Beavers. Beaver next plays Enterprise at 12:50 pm in the consolation bracket Friday.

2-A Girls Quarterfinals @ Weber State

OGDEN, Utah-Kennady McQueen amassed 22 points, 11 assists and 9 rebounds as the North Summit Braves downed Millard 64-53 Thursday in the 2-A girls quarterfinals at the Dee Events Center. Rylee Miller had 16 points and 6 rebounds in the loss for the Eagles.

OGDEN, Utah-Brinley Cornell led the way with 18 points and Kanab routed Wasatch Academy 64-44 in the 2-A girls quarterfinals at the Dee Events Center Thursday. Nataly Dunka had 18 points in the loss for the Tigers. Kanab next meets North Summit Friday at 4:10 pm in the state semifinals.

OGDEN, Utah-Brittlyn Carter led the way with 13 points as Beaver routed Altamont 52-23 at the Dee Events Center Thursday in the 2-A girls quarterfinals. Beaver next faces Enterprise Friday at 5:50 pm in the state semifinals.

Non-Region

MILFORD, Utah-Brooklyn Syrett led the way with 10 points and the Bryce Valley Mustangs edged Milford 31-29 in non-region girls basketball action Thursdsay. Kinsley Williams and Preslee Barnson had 9 points apiece in the loss for the Tigers.
