MONTICELLO, Utah-Garrett Chappell and Wyatt Van Orden had 20 points apiece and the Wayne Badgers edged Monticello 67-64 Friday in Region 19 boys basketball action. Lucas Hatch had 17 points for the Buckaroos in the loss.
2-A Girls Play-In Tournament
EPHRAIM, Utah-Ashlyn Gatherum posted 9 points and 5 rebounds as the Duchesne Eagles downed the Gunnison Bulldogs 39-34 Friday at the 2-A Girls Play-In Tournament at Snow College. Sheridan Sorensen had a game-high 11 points in the loss. Duchesne next faces Enterprise Thursday at 4:10 pm in the 2-A state quarterfinals at Weber State University.
EPHRAIM, Utah-Tavy Gale posted 18 points on 6-9 shooting as the Beaver Beavers routed St. Joseph 76-33 Friday at the 2-A Girls Play-In Tournament at Snow College. Brittlyn Carter added 17 points and 6 rebounds and Sydnee Gillins stepped up with 17 points and 7 rebounds on 6-8 from the field. Beaver plays the winner of APA Draper-Altamont Thursday at 5:50 pm in the state quarterfinals at Weber State University.
EPHRAIM, Utah-Rylee Miller posted 15 points and 5 rebounds and Kobree Penney added 11 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists as the Millard Eagles pounded Layton Christian 59-28 at Snow College at the 2-A Girls Play-In Tournament Friday. Danyale Thomas had 11 points in the loss for Layton Christian. Millard next plays in the 2-A state quarterfinals Thursday at 7:10 pm at Weber State University against North Summit.
EPHRAIM, Utah-Brinley Cornell amassed 28 points and 8 rebounds on 11-13 from the field as Kanab decimated Wateford 82-22 Friday at Snow College at the 2-A Girls Play-in Tournament. Sidney McDonald netted 16 points and 6 assists as well in the win for Kanab. Kanab is next in action Thursday at 9:10 pm at the Dee Events Center on the campus of Weber State University in Ogden against Wasatch Academy. Jaimeson Meyer posted 14 points in the loss for the Ravens.
EPHRAIM, Utah-Nataly Dunka posted 22 points and 6 rebounds and the Wasatch Academy Tigers withstood a furious North Sevier rally to outlast the Wolves 42-41 Friday at the 2-A Girls Play-in Tournament at Snow College.
Kamree Brunson led the Wolves in the loss with 14 points. Macady Goble was fouled behind the 3-point line in the closing seconds and made two of three free throws but missed the third and Wasatch Academy secured the rebound for the win.
The Tigers are next in action Thursday at 9:10 pm in the state quarterfinals at Weber State University in Ogden against Kanab or Waterford.
3-A Girls Play-In
OREM, Utah-Kenzie Jones netted 16 points and the South Sevier Rams routed Delta 45-27 Friday in the 3-A Girls Play-In Tournament at Orem High School. Shaylee Fowles had 7 points in the loss for the Rabbits. Grantsville next faces South Sevier Thursday at 9:10 pm in the 3-A state quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center.
OREM, Utah-Alexa Lord posted 15 points and the Richfield Wildcats humbled South Summit 56-17 at Orem High School in the 3-A Girls Play-in Tournament Friday. Bailee Crnich had 5 points in the loss for the South Summit Wildcats.
Richfield next draws Carbon Thursday at 7:30 pm at the Sevier Valley Center in the 3-A state quarterfinals.
OREM, Utah-Jodi Noyes amassed 22 points as the Carbon Dinos doubled up Manti 58-29 in the 3-A Girls Play-In Tournament Friday at Orem High School. Allie Bridges led the Templars in defeat with 8 points.
OREM, Utah-Bayli Heap posted 17 points and 9 rebounds as the Juab Wasps smacked North Sanpete 41-24 at Orem High School Friday in the 3-A Girls Play-In Tournament. Tiffany Peckham had 9 points in the loss for the Hawks. Juab is next in action Thursday at 4:10 pm against Judge in the 3-A state quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center.
