2-A Quarterfinals

FILLMORE, Utah-Brooks Myers completed 20 of 29 passes for 252 yards and a pair of scores and the Millard Eagles outlasted a spirited Parowan squad with a 35-32 win over the Rams Friday in the 2-A state football quarterfinals.

The Eagles also received a strong performance from tailback Austin Burraston (22 touches, 168 scrimmage yards) as he had a 49-yard touchdown reception and a 5-yard scoring run. Kael Myers (8 rec, 83 yards) also had a rushing touchdown to pace the Eagles.

Parowan’s offense consisted entirely of the running game as they ran for 377 yards on 62 carries, but were victimized by missed PAT or 2-point conversion attempts on every touchdown they had. Grayson Robb (20 car, 135 yards, TD), Easton Jense (16 car, 103 yards, 2 TD’s) and Hutch Miller (20 car, 93 yards, TD) all had strong rushing performances in defeat for the Rams. Tailback Levi Saylor also returned a kickoff 82 yards for another score for Parowans. The Rams’ season ends with a record of 5-6. Millard has improved to 9-2 on the season  and next faces Milford Saturday November 9 at 1:30 pm at Orem High School in the 2-A state semifinals.

MILFORD, Utah-Bryson Barnes had scoring runs of 53 and 4 yards and added a 75-yard interception return for a score as the Milford Tigers hammered North Sevier 55-24 in the 2-A state football quarterfinals Friday. Barnes also threw scoring passes to Bret Beebe of 48 and 25 yards. Casek Hardy had scoring runs of 15 and 45 yards for Milford in the win. In defeat, Taylor Crane threw scoring tosses of 18 yards to Burke Mickelsen and 45 yards to Hunter Higgs. Gabe Wilcox added a 7-yard touchdown run in the loss for North Sevier.

BEAVER, Utah-Kaleb Barney had touchdown runs of 14, 9 and 2 yards as the Beaver Beavers smacked Kanab 52-7 Friday in the 2-A state football quarterfinals. Ryker Albrecht added scoring runs of 7 and 2 yards for the Beavers and Jayton Jessup’s 10-yard scoring run complimented the stellar Beaver effort against the beleaguered Cowboys. EJ Allred added a 35-yard touchdown run for good measure for the Beavers. Jace Seely had a 2-yard touchdown run in the loss for Kanab. Beaver next meets Duchesne Saturday at 11:00 am in the 2-A state quarterfinals at Orem High School.

3-A Quarterfinals

NEPHI, Utah-Zac Cowan threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Valtinson as the Juab Wasps routed American Leadership 35-7 Friday in the 3-A state quarterfinals. Cade Bowring had scoring runs of 8 and 25 yards while Bodee Blackett (18 yards) and Rylan Watts (1 yard) also had touchdown runs for the Wasps. Juab next faces Grantsville Saturday November 9 at 1:30 pm at Mountain View High School in the 3-A state semifinals.

MT. PLEASANT, Utah-Connor Jorgensen threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jaxton Langschwager and added a scoring run, while hauling in a touchdown pass as the North Sanpete Hawks smacked Juan Diego 33-9 in the 3-A state quarterfinals Friday. Payton Clawson also had a touchdown run in the win for the Hawks. North Sanpete faces Morgan Saturday November 9 at 11:00 am in the 3-A state semifinals at Mountain View High School.

MANTI, Utah-Karson Christiansen threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Carter Thackaray as the Morgan Trojans routed Manti 33-14 Friday in the 3-A state quarterfinals. Sloan Calder added a 39-yard field goal in the win for Morgan. Karson Parry threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Travis Thomson and Tyler Taukie’aho added a 10-yard touchdown run in defeat for the Templars.

GRANTSVILLE, Utah-Jackson Sandberg threw five touchdown passes and the Grantsville Cowboys pummeled Richfield 42-14 in the 3-A state quarterfinals Friday. Gavin Brown threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Brittyn Riddle and a 5-yard scoring pass to Jake Hyatt in the loss for the Wildcats.

2-A State Volleyball Tournament

2-A Quarterfinals

OREM, Utah-The Enterprise Wolves outlasted Millard 3-2 in the 2-A state girls volleyball quarterfinals Friday at Utah Valley University. The Wolves bested the Eagles 25-14, 25-27, 22-25, 25-22 and 15-6. Enterprise faces top overall seed Waterford, per the RPI, Saturday at 9:30 am in the state semifinals.

OREM, Utah-The North Summit Braves gashed Gunnison Valley 3-0 in the 2-A state girls volleyball quarterfinals at Utah Valley University Friday. The Braves prevailed 25-23, 25-19 an 25-20 for the straight sets win against the Bulldogs. North Summit faces Kanab Saturday at 11:00 am in the state semifinals. The Bulldogs meet Wasatch Academy in the single-loss semis Saturday at 11:00 am.

OREM, Utah-Kanab overpowered Wasatch Academy 3-0 in the 2-A state girls volleyball quarterfinals Friday at Utah Valley University. Kanab dismantled the Tigers 25-23, 25-17 and 25-13 to advance to the state semifinals.

2-A Volleyball 2nd round

OREM, Utah-The Millard Eagles decimated St. Joseph 3-0 Friday in the 2-A state girls volleyball tournament’s second round at Utah Valley University. The Eagles routed the Jayhawks 25-8, 25-9 25-10 for the easy straight sets victory. Millard next faces fellow Region 18 foe Enterprise Friday at 12:00 pm in the state quarterfinals

OREM, Utah-The Gunnison Valley Bulldogs routed Freedom Prep 3-0 in the 2-A state girls volleyball tournament’s second round Friday at Utah Valley University. The Bulldogs pounded the Eagles 25-11, 25-15 and 25-11 for the straight sets win. The Bulldogs next face fellow Region 16 foe North Summit at 1:30 pm Friday in the state quarterfinals.

OREM, Utah-The Wasatch Academy Tigers waxed Beaver 3-1 in the 2-A State girls volleyball tournament’s second round at Utah Valley University Friday. The Tigers prevailed 25-16, 25-23, 16-25 and 25-19.

OREM, Utah-Kanab routed Parowan 3-0 in the 2-A State girls volleyball tournament’s second round at Utah Valley University Friday. Kanab routed the Rams 25-15, 25-15 and 25-9 for the easy straight sets victory.

2-A Girls Consolation Round

OREM, Utah-The Beaver Beavers lived to play another day by waxing the Parowan Rams 3-1 Friay at Utah Valley University in the 2-A state girls volleyball tournament consolation round. The Beavers prevailed 19-25, 26-24, 25-21 and 25-18. Beaver next meets Altamont Saturday at 8:00 am in the consolation semifinals.

Quarterfinals

OREM, Utah-The Panguitch Bobcats pounded Water Canyon 3-0 in the quarterfinals of the 1-A state girls volleyball tournament at Utah Valley University Friday. The Bobcats smacked the Wildcats 25-8, 25-15 and 25-8. Top-seeded Panguitch next draws Rich Saturday at 9:30 am in the semifinals.

OREM, Utah-The Rich Rebels outlasted Piute 3-2 in the 1-A state girls volleyball quarterfinals Friday at Utah Valley University. The Rebels prevailed 25-13, 30-32, 25-11, 24-26 and 15-12 in the win over the Thunderbirds. Piute meets Water Canyon in the single-loss semis Saturday at 9:30 am.

OREM, Utah-The Intermountain Christian Lions dismantled Valley 3-1 Friday in the 1-A state volleyball quarterfinals at Utah Valley University. The Lions downed the Buffaloes 25-15, 26-24, 18-25 and 25-21. Intermountain Christian meets Milford Saturday in the semifinals at 11:00 am. The Buffaloes will face Monument Valley Saturday at 11:00 am in the single-loss semis.

OREM, Utah-The Milford Tigers overpowered Monument Valley 3-0 in the 1-A state volleyball quarterfinal at Utah Valley University Friday. The Tigers downed the Cougars 25-12, 25-17 and 25-18 for the win.

Second Round

OREM, Utah-The Panguitch Bobcats clobbered Tintic 3-0 in the second round of the 1-A state girls volleyball tournament Friday at Utah Valley University. The Bobcats pounded the Miners 25-7, 25-11 and 25-7 for the straight sets victory.

OREM, Utah-The Piute Thunderbirds bested Whitehorse 3-0 Friday in the second round of the 1-A state girls volleyball tournament at Utah Valley University. Piute dismantled the Raiders 25-10, 25-14 and 25-15 for the decisive straight sets win.

OREM, Utah-The Intermountain Christian Lions slammed Bryce Valley 3-0 in the second round of the 1-A state girls volleyball tournament at Utah Valley University Friday. The Lions downed the Mustangs 25-20, 25-9 and 26-24.

OREM, Utah-Monument Valley smacked Wayne 3-0 in the second round of the 1-A state girls volleyball tournament Friday at Utah Valley University. The Cougars gashed the Badgers 25-22, 25-22 and 25-19 for the straight sets victory.

OREM, Utah-The Valley Buffaloes got past the Tabiona Tigers 3-2 in the second round of the 1-A state girls volleyball tournament at Utah Valley University Friday. The Buffaloes outlasted the Tigers 25-14, 22-25, 29-31, 25-23 and 15-13.

Consolation Bracket

OREM, Utah-The Tabiona Tigers smacked Bryce Valley 3-0 in the 1-A state volleyball tournament consolation bracket Friday at Utah Valley University. The Tigers routed the Mustangs 25-14, 25-11 and 25-13 for the straight sets victory. Tabiona next draws Escalante Saturday at 8:00 am in the consolation bracket semis.

OREM, Utah-The Escalante Moquis overpowered Wayne 3-1 Friday in the 1-A state volleyball tournament consolation bracket. The Moquis smacked the Badgers 25-20, 25-15, 21-25 and 25-16 to best their fellow Region 20 foes.
