Paris Johnson Joins USU Women’s Basketball Staff

LOGAN, Utah-Tuesday, Utah State women’s basketball head coach Jerry Finkbeiner announced the addition of assistant coach Paris Johnson to his staff.

Johnson comes to Logan after spending the two previous seasons as the director of player personnel for San Diego State’s women’s basketball program.

In this role, Johnson coordinated film exchange, edited film and developed the team’s highlight videos.

Additionally, she served as the Aztecs’ assistant recruiting coordinator, handled the team’s social media pages and oversaw the San Diego State student managers.

Johnson was also responsible for coordinating the Aztecs’ community service activities. Furthermore, she served as an interim assistant coach in the spring, assisting in recruiting efforts and post player development.

As a former player for the Aztecs (2008-2011), Johnson was a four-time letter-winner and is one of 21 1,000-point scorers in program history.

She is still San Diego State’s all-time leader in single-game (9), single-season (94) and career (267) blocks and was a four-time all-Mountain West Conference honoree.

She helped the Aztecs to a 2010 Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament and earned a bachelor’s degree in social science from San Diego State.

She then played professionally overseas in Australia, Poland, Spain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
