PRICE, Utah (Oct. 3, 2019) — The Snow College women’s volleyball team improved to 24-2 on the season after recording a 3-0 victory at No. 13 Utah State Eastern on Saturday.
With the win, the Badgers are in sole possession of first place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference with a two-game lead over USU Eastern, Salt Lake C.C. and Southern Idaho.
Snow won the first set behind back-to-back kills from sophomore Andreanna MckEee to end the match, 25-13.
In the second set, the Badgers overcame a three-point deficit late in the match to come from behind and take a 26-24 victory.
In the third set, the two teams battled to a 21-21 tie before the Badgers forced three USUE errors to take a 24-21 lead. Freshman Camden Strain, who was celebrating her birthday, knocked down the game winning kill to give Snow the 25-22 victory.
Freshman Lydia Montague led the Badgers with a team-high eight kills and three blocks. Sophomore Sarah Morely was credited with four kills, but had a team-best 16 digs. She also tallied three blocks for the Badgers. McKee registered six kills on 17 attempts with just one error, and freshman Ellee Anderson had 18 assists.
Saturday’s victory marks the first time in the rally scoring era the Badgers have gone through the first round of league play with a 5-0 record. Additionally, it is the 18th three-set victory of the season, including the 11th in the past 13 matches. (The school rally scoring era record for the most three-point victories was set back in 2017 and stands at 21.)
Snow College will take a brief break from league play and will travel to Rock Springs, Wyo., to take on Western Wyoming on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m.
The Badgers will next be home on Saturday, Oct. 19 to take on Southern Nevada. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
