ST. GEORGE, Utah-Tuesday, the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys, as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s #7 seed, upset Dixie State 86-82 at Burns Arena in the conference tournament quarterfinals.
The Trailblazers came in riding a 13-game winning streak but now will have to wait for the NCAA Division II selection show to see if they can gain an at-large bid into the tournament.
Raquan Mitchell posted 25 points and 5 rebounds on 8-14 shooting for the Cowboys. Gerad Davis added 15 points and 5 boards for New Mexico Highlands.
In defeat, Julien Ducree posted 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Trailblazers. Wade Miller added 17 points on 5-10 behind the arc as well for Dixie State in the loss.
