MANTI, Utah-Per news released from Manti High School principal Karen Soper, Dane Pollock has been announced as the new head coach of the Templars boys basketball program effective May 1.
Pollock has served under outgoing head coach Devin Shakespear for four state championships and brings 11 years of “quality experience” to the position per remarks from Soper.
Concerning this decision, Shakespear declared:
“After much thought and reflection, I want to share that I have decided to step away from my coaching role at Manti High School. This decision was not made lightly, as my time here has been filled with unforgettable memories, meaningful relationships, and the joy of working with truly incredible student-athletes. My family and I have determined a change is necessary to prioritize my health. I am now healthy and appreciate your thoughts and prayers for me and my family, they were felt. I am deeply grateful for the support I’ve received from my coaching staff, the administration, fellow coaches, parents, and most importantly, the players who have their all. I have loved the relationships developed and appreciate each one of them. Manti High is a special place. The spirit, dedication and unity in this community are something I will always carry with me. Thank you for trusting me to be a part of your lives. Coaching here has been one of the great privileges of my life. Though I’m stepping away from the sidelines,” he continued, “I will always be a Templar at heart. I look forward to working with student-athletes and coaches in other capacities. The program is in good hands and I will continue helping it grow however I can. Go Templars!!!”
