DELTA, Utah-Tuesday, Juab’s boys and girls track and field squads each won team championships at the Delta Invitational, headlining many Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network athletes and schools who competed at this event.
The Juab boys scored 122.5 points to edge Delta, as the Rabbits netted 117.5 points. Millard finished third with 74 points, North Sanpete was fifth with 48 points and Manti was sixth with 47.5 points. Panguitch placed seventh with 43.5 points, Gunnison Valley finished ninth with 25 points and North Sevier placed 13th with 5 points.
For the girls, the Wasps netted 131.5 points to secure the title with Delta placing second at 105.5 points. Panguitch finished fifth with 48 points and Millard was seventh with 38.5 points. Manti placed eighth with 33 points, Wasatch Academy was ninth with 26 points and Gunnison Valley placed 10th with 18 points. North Sanpete finished 11th with 14 points.
In the girls’ medley, Panguitch placed second (4:49.01) with Manti in third (4:52.04), Delta in fourth (5:01.04), North Sanpete in fifth (5:01.09) and Wasatch Academy placing sixth (5:03.08).
In the boys’ medley, North Sanpete finished second (3:58.43), Delta placed third (3:58.62), Gunnison Valley finished fifth (4:17.50) and Panguitch placed sixth (4:20.11).
Delta’s Savannah Nielson swept the 100-meter hurdles (16.27 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles (49.40 seconds) titles.
In the boys’ 110-meter hurdles, Manti’s Josh Blauer (16.27 seconds) won the title and Juab’s Ronnie Walker (12.75 seconds) won the girls’ 100-meter dash crown.
Delta’s Derek Smith won the boys’ 100-meter dash crown (11.33 seconds) and Taylia Norris of Panguitch won the girls’ 1600-meter run title (5:47.40). Norris also won the girls’ 800-meter crown (2:26.35).
The Delta girls’ 4 x 100 relay team won the title in a time of 51.94 seconds. This team features Jordyn Nielson, Savannah Nielson, Adi Nielson and Megan Atkinson.
Adi Nielson won the girls’ 400-meter dash title (59.30 seconds) and Millard’s Shade Woodard won the boys’ 400-meter dash crown (52.78 seconds).
Jaymen Brough of Delta won the boys’ 300-meter hurdles title (41.90 seconds).
Gunnison Valley’s Jade Wimmer won the girls’ 200-meter dash title (26.42 seconds) and the boys’ 200-meter dash winner was Oran Finlinson of Delta (23.41 seconds).
Juab’s Maura Williams won the girls’ 3200-meter run title (12:38.20) and her teammate, Dason Day, won the boys’ 3200-meter run crown (10:50.60).
The Millard girls (4:14.00) and boys (3:34.30) each won their respective 4 x 400 relay titles. The girls were represented by Audrey Camp, Mary Degraffenreid, Paige Cummings and Katy Kelly. The boys’ competitors for the Eagles in the event were Graydee Warren, Alex Wall, Tilden Kesler and Nathan Despain.
Juab’s Emilia Anderson won the girls’ long jump title (15-06.25 feet) and Zac Cowan, also of Juab, won the boys’ javelin crown (142-03.50 feet).
Laramie Roberts of North Sanpete won the boys’ discus title (101-05) and Haylee Christenson of Delta took the girls’ shot put crown (33-02 feet).
Gavin Howarth of Juab took the boys’ long jump title (21-01 feet) and his teammate, Rhiannon West, won the girls’ high jump crown (5 feet).
Valerie Clark, also of Juab, won the girls’ javelin title (120-05) and Kiesa Miller of Panguitch took the girls’ discus title (95-03).
