OREM, Utah-Friday, as the 1-A through 4-A drill team championships were decided at Utah Valley University, the Kanab Lariettes made school history, claiming their first state championship in history as they earned the 2-A state title.
The Lariettes pulled off the historic feat by besting Enterprise in military and kick.
Among the stars for the Lariettes were drill captain Shelbi Fisher and co-captain Ruby McCowan.
North Sevier also had a successful showing, as the Wolves placed third in the overall 2-A standings.
Earning coach of the year honors in 2-A was Gunnison’s Makesha Wanner.
In 1-A, the Panguitch Bobettes earned their 10th state title in school history, after bringing back the sport in 2018.
Panguitch’s last state title was won in 2005. Piute placed fourth overall in the 1-A standings and Milford finished fifth. The Bobettes swept the individual titles in military, dance and kick.
Bobettes coach, Karma Albrecht, was named as the 1-A coach of the year for her efforts in resuscitating the program and bringing it to a championship level.
In 3-A, the dynastic South Sevier Sensations again won the state title. This was their 10th in school history and their sixth in a row.
The Sensations took the military and kick titles with North Sanpete earning the title in dance.
North Sanpete placed second in military, with Juab placing third and Richfield fifth.
South Sevier placed second in dance, with Richfield finishing third and Juab fourth.
In the 3-A kick competition, Juab was second, North Sanpete finished fourth and Richfield placed fifth.
