Dixie State Downs Westminster In RMAC Opener

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Frank Staine posted 18 points on 6-8 from the field and 4-5 behind the arc as the Dixie State Trailblazers humbled Westminster 74-63 Saturday evening at Burns Arena in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener for both squads.

The Trailblazers (6-0, 1-0 in RMAC play) also received strong performances from Hunter Schofield (14 points, 5 rebounds) and Josh Newbold (11 points, 6 rebounds, 5-9 shooting) to stay undefeated on the young season.

The Dixie State defense also limited the Griffins to 34.5 percent shooting from the field for the evening as Westminster fell to 5-2 and 0-1 in conference play.

Brandon Warr (22 points, 9 rebounds) led the Griffins in the loss.

Dixie State is next in action Friday and Saturday at Burns Arena as they continue their RMAC season by hosting South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State.
