Dixie State Baseball Visits Colorado School of Mines This Weekend

ST. GEORGE, Utah-This weekend, Dixie State baseball (22-8, 12-4 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play) visits the Colorado School of Mines’ Orediggers (19-8, 10-6 in RMAC play).

This commences an 8-game road swing for the Trailblazers as they will play at Colorado School of Mines for four games, a single game on Friday and Sunday with a doubleheader slated for Saturday.

On the road at the NCAA Division II level (2007-present), Dixie State is 142-122-1 (.537) and is 407-229-1 (.639) as a Division II program.

The 400th all-time win came March 16 against UC Colorado Springs.

Freshman infielder Tyson Fisher leads the Trailblazers with a .420 batting average.

Junior infielder Jake Engel (12 home runs, 37 RBI) is Dixie State’s offensive leader on the season.

Junior right-handed pitcher Colton Harris is the Trailblazers’ leader in ERA (1.76) while left-handed pitcher Jack Gonzales is 5-0 on the season for Dixie State.

The Orediggers’ leaders in batting average are senior first baseman Jace Selsor and junior infielder Derek Daly (each .343). Daly also leads the Orediggers in home runs (14) and RBI (39).

Junior left-handed pitcher Mitch Menard (2.70 ERA) is Colorado School of Mines’ leader in ERA.

Fellow junior left-handed pitcher Walter Pennington (5-1) is the Orediggers’ winningest hurler on the season thus far.

The series is tied 1-1 all-time.
