SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, a pair of Utah Valley University women’s golf standouts advanced to the match play portion of the 112th annual Utah Women’s State Amateur Championship at Bonneville Golf Course of Salt Lake City.

Senior standout Carly Dehlin and junior Kaylee Shimizu made the cut after placing seventh and eighth, respectively, after two rounds of stroke play.

Dehlin shot an 81 after Monday’s first round of action and followed up this performance with a 2-under-par 70 Tuesday.

She has made the Women’s State Am cut for the fourth consecutive year with a 7-over-par 151 overall score.

Tuesday, the two-time all-WAC performer carded four birdies, as well as an eagle and 11 pars as she bolstered her score.

Dehlin is also only the third women’ golfer in Utah history to qualify and compete in the Utah Men’s State Amateur Championship.

Up next for her is a match against 10th overall seed Annie Yang, a former BYU golf standout.

Shimizu earned her current position in eighth place after carding a two-round score of 10-over-par 154.

Shimizu will be the #9 seed as match play commences and will go against eighth seed Anna Kennedy of BYU Wednesday morning.

After a pair of match play rounds Wednesday, the 112th Utah Women’s State Am concludes Thursday with the semifinal and final rounds.
