SAN FRANCISCO-Saturday, BYU men’s basketball (15-6, 4-2 in West Coast Conference play) visits San Francisco (14-7, 3-3 in WCC play) for a 3:00 pm MST tip-off at War Memorial Gym.

BYU head coach Mark Pope (15-6, .714 at BYU; 92-62, .597 as a collegiate head coach) has excelled in his first season at the helm of the Cougars’ program.

BYU averages 78.4 points per game, ranking the Cougars 29th nationally in scoring offense.

With senior forward Yoeli Childs ( team-bests in points [21.5 points per game], and rebounding [10 boards per game], a team-best 11 blocked shots) having returned to the lineup, BYU is all the more dangerous.

Senior guard Jake Toolson (15.6 points, 4.8 rebounds per game) and fellow senior back-court mate TJ Haws (13.5 points per game, team-bests in assists [104] and steals [23]) also bolster the Cougars’ offense.

The Cougars have amassed 348 assists on the season, tying them for 7th nationally with Virginia Military.

BYU surrenders 67.8 points per game as the Cougars rank 143rd nationally in scoring defense.

In his first year at the helm of the Dons’ program, head coach Todd Golden (14-7, .667) has kept San Francisco at the high level set by his predecessor, Kyle Smith, who was 63-40 (.612) from 2016-19 in leading the Dons.

San Francisco scores 77.3 points per game as the Dons rank 52nd nationally in scoring offense.

Redshirt junior guard Charles Minlend leads the Dons in scoring (15.1 points per game). Fellow junior back-court mate Jamaree Bouyea (13.4 points per game, team-bests in assists [78], steals [37] and blocked shots [17]) and senior center Jimbo Lull (11.6 points per game, a team-best 7.2 rebounds per game) also average double figures for San Francisco on the season.

The Dons surrender 69.9 points per game as San Francisco ranks 203rd nationally in scoring defense.

BYU leads San Francisco 15-8 all-time and are 5-5 all-time against the Dons on the road.
