SAN DIEGO-Thursday, BYU men’s basketball (16-10, 8-3 in WCC play) returns to action as they visit San Diego to take on the Toreros.

Defense was a struggle early on in the season for the Cougars, but they have surrendered only 52 points per game in their last three contests.

The Cougars’ star remains junior forward Yoeli Childs (21 points, 9.7 rebounds per game) as he is currently shooting 52 percent (211 of 406) from the field.

In last Saturday’s 69-59 win over Pacific, Childs amassed 19 points and 13 rebounds, his 14th double-double of the season and the 34th of his career.

Childs is now tied with Alan Taylor for the fourth most double-doubles in program history.

Junior guard TJ Haws also adds 17 points per game for the Cougars.

The Cougars score 80.2 points per game and surrender 75.4 points per contest.

The Toreros are 16-9 (5-5 in WCC play) headed into Thursday’s game.

San Diego is only 3-3 in their last six games and is coming off of a 70-67 loss to Pepperdine.

The Toreros score 73.5 points per game and surrender 68 points per contest.

Redshirt senior forward Isaiah Pineiro (19.3 points, 9 rebounds per game) is San Diego’s statistical leader while senior guard Olin Carter III (16 points per game) and redshirt senior guard Isaiah Wright (13.4 points per game) are also double-digit scorers

The Cougars have dominated this series, leading the Toreros all-time 14-5.
