PROVO, Utah-Wednesday, BYU men’s basketball head coach Kevin Young announced the addition of Chris Burgess as an assistant to the Cougars’ staff.

Burgess, who turned 45 last month, was born in Provo and raised in southern California where he starred for Mater Dei High School of Santa Ana, Calif. and Woodbridge High School of Irvine, Calif.

Burgess comes to BYU from Utah where he served as an assistant under Utes head coach Craig Smith in 2022. Burgess returns to the Cougars after he served as an assistant under Mark Pope from 2019-22.
