PROVO, Utah-Monday, per a report from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, BYU baseball received its first ranking of the season.
The Tucson, Ariz.-based publication has the 21-5 (7-2 in West Coast Conference play) Cougars ranked 24th in this week’s polls.
This is BYU’s first national ranking since April 18, 2016.
The streaking Cougars have won 8 of their last 13 games and 13 of their last 15 contests.
They return to the diamond Thursday at San Diego for a three-game series against the Toreros.
Additionally, Collegiate Baseball named senior right fielder Brock Hale as its National Player of the Week and Rawlings named him as their West Coast Conference Player of the Week.
In a series sweep of Saint Mary’s this past weekend, Hales hit .500 and went 8 for 16 with a double and four home runs, including nine RBI, six runs and two walks for the Cougars.
