BYU Baseball Hosts Pepperdine This Weekend

PROVO, Utah-This weekend, BYU baseball (22-8, 8-4 in West Coast Conference play) hosts Pepperdine (16-12, 7-5 in conference play) as the West Coast Conference series continues for both squads Thursday through Saturday.

Despite the Cougars’ struggles on the field this past week, sophomore infielder Jackson Cluff was named as a collegiate baseball player of the week and as the WCC’s player of the week by batting .538, netting seven hits and 10 RBI.

The pitcher for BYU Thursday is senior right-handed pitcher Jordan Wood. Friday, the Cougars will go with sophomore right-hander Easton Walker and Saturday, BYU goes with sophomore right-handed pitcher Justin Sterner.

The Cougars’ leader in batting average remains senior infielder Brian Hsu (.389). Cluff leads BYU with 37 RBI and senior outfielder Brock Hale (7 home runs) is the Cougars’ home run leader.

The Waves are led by junior infielder Quincy McAfee (a .380 batting average), senior outfielder Matthew Kanfer (22 RBI) and sophomore infielder Billy Cook (5 home runs).

Pepperdine’s leading pitcher is sophomore right-handed pitcher Chandler Cooper (3-1).

The Waves lead the Cougars all-time 29-18-1.
