BYU Baseball Faces Utah This Evening

SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday evening, BYU baseball (33-14, 17-7 in West Coast Conference play) visits Utah (12-31, 4-23 in Pac-12 play) as the Deseret Duel reconvenes at Smith’s Ballpark in a non-conference game.

While the Utes have had an extremely disappointing season, one of their 12 wins thus far came against the Cougars 8-6 at Salt Lake City April 2.

The Cougars will start senior left-handed pitcher Bo Burrup for the first time on the season.

He has made seven appearance this season for BYU, amassing eight strikeouts.

The Cougars are led by sophomore infielder Jackson Cluff (.346 batting average, 56 RBI) and senior outfielder Brock Hale (.344 batting average, 10 home runs).

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Easton Walker (6-1) and fellow sophomore right-hander Jaden Sterner (8-3 and a team-best 64 strikeouts) lead the Cougars.

The Utes are led by junior infielder Oliver Dunn (a team-best .360 batting average) and senior outfielder Erick Migueles who leads the squad in home runs (7) and RBI (39).

Senior left-handed pitcher Joshua Tedeschi (5-5 and a team-best 47 strikeouts) is the star of the Utes’ staff.

The Cougars lead the all-time series 244-117-2.
