FARMINGTON, Utah-Friday, the Big Sky Conference confirmed it is postponing the football conference season until the spring.
The conference’s presidents’ council, which included Southern Utah University president Scott L. Wyatt and Weber State University president Brad L. Mortensen convened Thursday, voting to move forward in this manner per a Friday statement.
Non-conference play for the conference’s 13 schools, which are located in Utah, California, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon and Washington, is still pending further review.
The Farmington, Utah-based conference has begun exploring modified versions of a college football schedule to be played in the spring. They also fully support the NCAA shifting the FCS championship to the spring.
Big Sky institutions may now continue with “permissible athletic activities” as they so choose while abiding by NCAA legislation, campus policies and local and state regulations.
Other Big Sky sports competing in the fall will continue to be reviewed with a final determination to be made at a future date.
