Bees Start Season Saturday; Split With Sacramento

SALT LAKE CITY-Because of inclement weather Friday, the Salt Lake Bees started their season with a doubleheader Saturday at Smith’s Ballpark against the Sacramento River Cats.

In the first game, the Bees bested the River Cats 2-0.

Chad Wallach homered in the 3rd Inning for Salt Lake. In the bottom of the 4th Inning, the Bees scored on a bases-loaded walk.

Chase Silseth earned the win on the mound for the Bees, posting six strikeouts in five innings of work for Salt Lake.

In the second game, the River Cats prevailed 7-4 as Ricardo Genovés drove in three runs for Sacramento. Sam Long earned the win on the mound for the River Cats, posting two strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work. 

Jo Adell, Mickey Moniak and Trey Cabbage each drove in a run in the loss for the Bees.

Following the results of Saturday’s games, both squads are each 1-1 on the young season.

The Bees and River Cats meet again Sunday at 1:05 pm at Smith’s Ballpark to conclude the series.
