EPHRAIM, Utah- The No. 16 ranked Badgers pulled off an upset against the No. 7 ranked Iowa Central Tritons on homecoming night, winning 30-20.
After giving up a 71 yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter, Snow bounced back in the second quarter and lead at the half 21-17. Quarterback Braxton Kerr scored Snow’s first touchdown of the game on a 6 yard run, and kick returner Weston Barlow returned a kickoff 97 yards for their second touchdown of the game. Running Back Shammah Luani scored on a 16 yard touchdown run to put the Badgers up 21-14 before the Tritons kicked a field goal with 1:20 left in the first half.
Snow’s defense, led by linebacker Trace Tupe, came up big in the third quarter when Tupe held Iowa Central quarterback Arthur Brantley in the end zone for a safety. Kerr was replaced by backup quarterback Garrison Beach who extended the Badgers lead on a 20 yard touchdown run with 13:53 left in the game, giving the Badgers a 30-20 lead that would last the duration of the game.
Snow College will have a few weeks off before they make the long flight to Miami to face ASA College (Miami) on October 12. ASA College is coming off of a 40-25 loss to Lackawanna College and will have two more games before they host the Badgers.
