An Annabella woman is facing multiple charges after she’s believed to have burglarized her own mother’s home, according to Richfield City Police.
Officials say 45-year-old Tara Evans was arrested on Sunday after her mother had come home from a trip to find her in the house.
Evans didn’t have a key to the house and her mother reached out to an off-duty officer who lived close-by. When the officer came to see what was happening, Evans had fled the house.
Officers found Evans at the high school hiding behind a rock with drugs and items that didn’t belong to her.
A custodian told officials he had seen Evans in the school in the women’s bathroom and told her to leave. Multiple items believed to be burglarized were also later found abandoned in the bathroom.
Evans is now facing charges of theft, possession of methamphetamine and criminal trespassing.
