A woman was arrested after stealing a family’s jeep, crashing it, returning the jeep, and taking a nap on the homeowner’s bed.
Kyle Martin, age 31 of Joseph, was reportedly driving to Joseph when she got into an argument with her boyfriend near Koosharem on SR 24.
After the couple had pulled over and continued to fight Martin got out of the vehicle, ran away, and hid from her boyfriend in a ditch until he left the area.
According to police after this she left the area on foot and came to the Lyman Forsythe home. The family was not home at the time and Martin reportedly climbed into a window well where she spent the night.
The next morning, she climbed through a doggie door and gained access to the garage where she pulled a screen from the kitchen window and climbed into the home.
According to police Martin used the phone to try and call family members but was unable to contact any of them. At this point Martin took the homeowners jeep and attempted to drive to a family members home in Junction.
Martin then crashed the jeep along the way taking out some fencing along Highway 62. She then continued to Junction where she was told by family members to return the jeep.
She did so but upon returning to the Forsythe home, Martin did some laundry and took a shower. According to police, she than ate some food from the freezer and then fell asleep in the homeowner’s bed.
Martin was still in the bed when the homeowners arrived and discovered her there. Martin was arrested on September 29.
According to police she was booked on charges of criminal mischief, burglary of the vehicle, and criminal trespass in a dwelling. In addition, a record check showed Martins to have five active arrest warrants out of Sevier County Justice Court.
