A warning advisory is in place for Yuba Lake due to an algal bloom in the water.

The Department of Environmental Quality says the bloom is creating elevated toxic levels near the lake’s north shore.

Swimmers are told to stay out of the water in that area and boaters are asked to avoid areas when the algae is present.
