PROVO, Utah (AP) — A Utah teen will serve time in prison for a violent attack last year where he stabbed four classmates and himself and hit a fifth person with a staff.
Reports say 16-year-old Luke Dollahite was sentenced to 10 years to life in prison. He faced five charges of attempted aggravated murder.
Dollahite apologized to the victims, his family and his community during his Thursday sentencing and said that he did not deserve the mercy he has been shown.
The Associated Press did not previously name the teen because of his age, but it is now using his name because he has been charged as an adult.
According to reports, Dollahite may remain in a juvenile facility until he turns 21. Dollahite’s lawyer says he will receive counseling while in jail.
