With Utah’s primary elections only a couple months away, people are trying to learn more about the candidates that are starting to fill up the ballot. Here is a quick update on whose running for office in areas that effect central Utah.
Utah’s second congressional district covers Salt Lake City as well as the rural western and southern portions of Utah. The democratic primary candidates for this district are Randy Hopkins, Larry Livingston and John Kael Weston. The republican primary candidates are Chris Stewart (incumbent,) Mary Burkett and Carson Jorgensen.
Utah’s fourth congressional district includes parts of Juab and Sanpete Counties. The democratic primary candidates for this district are Ben McAdams (incumbent,) Daniel Beckstrand and Jonathan Lopez. The republican primary candidates are Kathleen Anderson, Chris Biesinger, Trent Christensen, Kim Coleman, Jay McFarland, Burgess Owens and Cindy Thompson.
In the senate, representing Utah, Ralph Okerlund is not running for re-election for district 24, which covers Juab, Piute, Sanpete, Sevier, Tooele and Wayne Counties. Running in the republican primary election to take his place is Derrin Owens and Mike Styler.
Primary elections in Utah are currently scheduled for Jun. 30 and general elections are scheduled for Nov. 3.
