The law to ban clinics statewide would have taken effect today before Judge Andrew Stone paused the ban while the court considers a lawsuit by Planned Parenthood. The healthcare organization argued the ban singles out abortion clinics without providing a rational basis. The law would have immediately barred the state from issuing licenses to clinics and would phase existing licenses out by next year.
