Utah National Guard Helicopters Train For Wildfire Season With UFA Crews

(Camp Williams, UT) — The Utah National Guard is working with the Unified Fire Authority to train for the upcoming wildfire season. Lieutenant Colonel Eric Wiedmeier says calling the Guard is usually a last resort for fire officials, but it pays to be ready for when those calls come in. Black Hawk helicopter crews worked yesterday on collecting and dropping water from a large bucket on a targeted area at Camp Williams. The Guard helicopters have assisted with dozens of Utah wildfires over the past two years, including last year’s fire in Parleys Canyon.
