QUARTZSITE, Ariz. (AP)-Authorities confirmed a Utah man has been arrested in connection with a wrong-way crash killing three women in another vehicle in western Arizona last Saturday.
Officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety stated 49-year-old Washington City resident Dana Michael Cavanaugh has been booked into the La Paz (Ariz.) County Jail on suspicion of homicide, per The Arizona Republic.
As of Monday afternoon, officials are still seeking to determine if Cavanaugh was driving impaired at the time of the crash, which occurred on Interstate 10, east of Quartzsite, which is roughly 130 miles west of Phoenix.
Monday, it was unclear as to whether Cavanaugh had an attorney or not.
DPS officials stated a vehicle entered I-10 going the wrong way and traveled 500 feet before colliding head-on with another car.
Among those dead are a 55-year-old woman and two 31-year-old women.
The names of the victims have not yet been released, but DPS officials said they were all residents of Riverside, Calif.
