(Salt Lake City, UT) — A Utah lawmaker is concerned about domestic violence deaths in the state. Republican Representative Marsha Judkins has proposed legislation to take a harder stand against domestic violence offenders illegally holding on to their guns. Judkins says the measure mirrors the state’s stiffer penalties for someone caught with a firearm while on probation for drug possession. Her proposal bumps up potential prison time for those with a felony conviction or who are restricted by a protective order involving an intimate partner or child.
