Utah Lawmakers React To State Of The Union

(Washington, DC) — Utah lawmakers are responding after watching President Biden give his State of the Union speech last night. Governor Spencer Cox watched the speech in-person at the U.S. Capitol building last night as a guest of Senator Mike Lee. Both Lee and Cox noted that they shared some areas of agreement with Biden, though they disagreed with his comments on federal spending, immigration and cuts to Medicare and Social Security. Senator Mitt Romney also reacted to the speech, saying Biden was right to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. But he also criticized the President for not speaking frankly about the challenges facing the nation and the need to make some difficult choices to cut spending and reduce inflation.
