The Republican contenders to challenge Utah’s lone congressional Democrat differed Monday on whether a hardline conservative or a more centrist candidate would be the party’s best chance in November. State Rep. Kim Coleman, former radio host Jay Mcfarland, and non-profit CEO Trent Christensen said at a debate they would be willing to compromise with Democrats while former NFL player Burgess Owens says he would take a more hardline approach. The winner of the June 30 primary will challenge Rep. Ben McAdams who flipped the seat in 2018, winning a razor-thin race against Republican incumbent Mia Love.
