(Salt Lake City, UT) — Two Utah families are suing the state over a transgender sports ban passed by the state legislature. The lawsuit was filed in state district court in Salt Lake City yesterday. The families claim the ban violates multiple sections of the state constitution. They also say the law singles out transgender girls for exclusion and alienates them from their classmates. Among the defendants are the Utah High School Activities Association and the Granite School District. Lawyers for the families say they will seek an injunction to keep the law from going into effect on July 1st.
