SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — For the first time in nearly two decades, the bid to represent a sprawling congressional district in northern Utah is an open race following the retirement of Republican U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop. Republican candidate Blake Moore is a conservative Salt Lake City businessman who is favored to win in the heavily Republican district. His Democratic opponent Darren Parry is a former Shoshone tribe chairman who says he will prioritize marginalized communities. The two candidates agree on several key policy areas but widely differ on the subject of public lands. A Democrat has not won the largely rural district in northern Utah in more than 40 years.
