Utah AG Not Endorsing Anyone For U.S. Senate Seat

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes says he is not going to endorse anyone in the 2024 U.S. Senate race. Reyes’ general counsel initially told the Salt Lake Tribune the attorney general was not going to endorse Tim Ballard, then issued a statement Friday that no candidate will receive an endorsement from Reyes. Ballard, who founded the anti-sex trafficking organization Operation Underground Railroad, is facing allegations of sexual harassment and other misconduct by former employees. Reyes said in a statement he was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the allegations against Ballard, who is believed to be the “friend” the attorney general said he would endorse in a September 13th tweet. The race for the Senate seat is wide open since Senator Mitt Romney announced recently he is not running for re-election.
