(Salt Lake City, UT) — The ACLU of Utah is planning a court challenge to the recently passed ban on gender-affirming surgery and hormone therapy for transgender youth. The group announced yesterday that it plans to work with the National Center for Lesbian Rights to fight the new law. In a statement, the ACLU said that transgender children deserve to grow up without constant political attacks on their lives and health care. The group is already challenging a law passed last year that bans transgender athletes from competing in girls’ high school sports.
