UT Senators Split Vote on Same-Sex Marriage Measure

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah’s two senators have split their votes Wednesday for a bill to formally legalize same-sex marriage. Republican Mitt Romney was one of 12 Republicans who voted yes on the Respect for Marriage Act. Republican Mike Lee voted no, saying there weren’t enough religious liberty protections. The final vote was 62-to-37 to move the bill, with 12 Republicans joining all 50 Democrats.
