USOPC Says They Will Continue To Back Olympic Bid For Utah

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee says it will continue to back Utah’s bid to host the Winter Olympics. The committee’s CEO said yesterday that the effort to bring the Olympics to Utah will go on, despite questions about the state’s recent adoption of a ban on transgender athletes in public schools. Sarah Hirshland added that the committee might change direction if the ban were extended to exclude athletes eligible to compete in the Olympics. The International Olympic Committee will be sending a team of technical experts to Utah next month to assess the state’s readiness to host the Games.
