(Salt Lake City, UT) — A bill that would create more oversight of proposed dredging at Utah Lake is on its way to a vote in the Utah House. The House Natural Resources Committee approved House Bill 240 yesterday. The bill would modify the Utah Lake Restoration Act of 2018, requiring approval by the legislature and the governor before dredging projects are conducted. Activists have opposed a plan to dredge the lake and use material collected to form islands that would then be developed for housing and recreation.
