UHP warning drivers against drunk driving for the holidays

(Salt Lake City, UT) — State and local police officers are making sure Utahns know that drunk drivers are facing extra scrutiny during the holidays.

The Utah Highway Patrol has added 300 extra shifts during the Christmas and New Year’s period where troopers are looking only for drunk drivers.

The UHP says they hope to reduce the number of alcohol-related crashes from 16 last year to zero this year.

The UHP encourages friends and family members to do their part by taking the keys from any driver who is too drunk to get behind the wheel.
