(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Unified Fire Authority is urging everyone to know the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning. Hazmat engineer Bethany Bitter told headaches, confusion, weakness, nausea, and dizziness are all symptoms of the “silent killer.” She says carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless, and carbon monoxide poisoning often happens when heating vents are clogged or gas appliances aren’t properly serviced. This warning comes after a family experienced carbon monoxide poisoning in their home in Ogden over the weekend. The Utah Poison Control Center says there were more than 200 ER visits and six deaths due to carbon monoxide poisoning in the state last year.
