Two Sevier County teens face felony counts after “funny” chase

Two teen boys are facing felony evading an officer counts after a high speed chase in Glenwood on Friday night.

According to the Sevier County Sheriff, Nate Curtis, the two sped off from a deputy and reached speeds of 77 mph in a 25 mph neighborhood.

The deputy called off the search, citing a concern for the speed, but a short time later a Richfield City officer saw the truck the teens were driving and stopped them at gunpoint.

When they were questioned by authorities, the boys said they thought the deputy was joking around with them, and they thought it was funny.

According to Curtis, “it’s actually pretty serious.”

Curtis says he doesn’t think drugs or alcohol were involved, but he is concerned the boys weren’t taking the deputy seriously.
