HEBER CITY, Utah (AP) — Authorities say three people are dead and at least one person was hurt in a head-on crash on a U.S, highway in Utah.
State Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce tells KSL-TV (http://bit.ly/2kGWji5) the crash happened about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. Highway 40 North of Heber City.
Royce didn’t immediately respond to a message from The Associated Press.
Patrol Lt. Harley Watkins tells KSL that investigators didn’t immediately know why one vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, but says it appears both cars were traveling over the speed limit.
Police say a man and two women were in one vehicle and a man and woman in the other.
The names of the dead and injured weren’t immediately made public.
The highway was closed for several hours while authorities investigated.
