(Park City, UT) — It’s possible the Sundance Film Festival could leave Park City and even the state of Utah in the not too distant future. In a news release, the Sundance Institute announced it’s beginning a formal process “to explore viable locations in the United States to host the Sundance Film Festival” when its contract with Park City is up for renewal in 2027. The release said the 2025 and 2026 festivals will still take place in Park City, where it’s been held for more than 40 years. A “Request for Information” process is underway now until May 1st. From there, the Sundance Institute will notify those cities that move onto the “Request for Proposal” stage. Park City Mayor Nann Worel said in a statement “We appreciate our partnership with Sundance, and we want the festival to remain here for another 40 years.”
