(Salt Lake City, UT) — People gathered outside the State Capitol yesterday to call for gun control and safer schools. The rally was one of a national wave of demonstrations headed by the national organization March For Our Lives. The Utah chapter said the group is asking for common sense gun reform to protect Utah’s children and communities. Coordinator Ellie Otis said the rally wasn’t aimed at taking away guns, but asking lawmakers to keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have them, people she described as those “who aren’t healthy, who aren’t safe to be having” guns. March For Our Lives was founded by students after the 2018 mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida when 15 students and two staff members were killed.
