Around 8:00 p.m. on May 12, authorities responded to a call about a trailer home on fire in Salina. According to reports, a man living in another trailer on the property noticed the fire and went to look for the occupant. When he was not outside of the home this individual along with a neighbor went into the home and drug the resident outside. The same individual then went back inside and was able to save one of the dogs in the home, but was unable to save a second.
The resident of the home was taken by ambulance to the hospital and was released later the same night. The Saline Fire Department was able to put out the blaze but the home was a complete loss. The other trailer on the property also suffered damage, but is recoverable. The Salina City Police Department shared their thanks to the two individuals that went into the mobile home to save the resident and believe he would have perished if they hadn’t. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
