Recently there has been a string of thefts from unlocked vehicles in Monroe. According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis, four or five vehicles were broken into, but two of the vehicles had nothing taken. One vehicle had some sunglasses stolen and another vehicle had a rifle and some binoculars stolen.
The break ins occurred on the night of Apr. 14 and none of the vehicles were locked at the time of the burglaries. The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to follow the “9 p.m. routine,” which includes removing valuables from your vehicle, not leaving the keys inside your vehicle and locking your car doors.
