Stewart To Introduce Bill To Ban Social Media Accounts For Children

(Washington, DC) — A Utah congressman is promising to introduce a bill that will keep children under 16-years-old from having social media accounts. Republican Congressman Chris Stewart tells that his bill is designed to target depression, isolation and other harmful effects caused by social media. The bill would reportedly include a provision that would allow parents to sue companies over claims that children have harmed themselves through their use of social media. Stewart expects bipartisan support, as well as pushback from consumer technology companies opposed to the bill.
