State Senator Gene Davis Announces Resignation

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A Democratic state senator is resigning from the Utah legislature after an investigation into sexual harassment allegations. Senator Gene Davis announced yesterday that he will be stepping down on November 19th. A spokesperson said Davis was not admitting any wrongdoing by deciding to retire. His resignation came on the same day that Senate President J. Stuart Adams announced he was stripping Davis of all committee assignments. That announcement followed an investigation that found the senator probably violated the Senate’s anti-harassment policies during his interactions with a female intern.
